Back Home Almost 2-1/2 Months Later - March 9th

This was our 4th winter to escape the cold Alabama temps and warm our old bones in the Florida Keys.  We left home on December 30th and drove to Augusta to pick up our sweet niece and great-niece, who has graciously bestowed to us the title of "Great Mom" and "Great Dad".

Carrying our kayaks and bicycles, we nicknamed ourselves "the Clampetts". All that was missing was the rocking chair in the back of the truck.

We had several visitors this year and enjoyed sharing little piece of paradise with them.

Other than the obvious staying warm thing. we are able to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle while there, and have made so many new friends.  Whether they are snow birds or locals, we enjoy spending time with them every winter.

Alabama had a very cold, wet winter.  As we watched the weather forecasts, we extended our stay for an extra week to have our arrival back home coincide with the rising temperatures.  We stayed two extra nights in Marathon, stayed two nights in Clearwater, one night in Carabelle, two nights with dear friends in Orange Beach, and two more nights with cousins in Ft. Morgan.  We capped the trip off with a visit to The Frog Pond to hear some good music (we are definitely spoiled by our Muscle Shoals music!)
